Hello my name
is Noah!

Cacatua moluccensis

20260128_132808_edited.jpg

I am a 20 year old Moluccan Cockatoo who entered into The Friends of the Aviary's foster program in December of 2025.

Unfortunately my owner passed away after being sick and hospitalized for several months. Her partner and son were able to get in touch with FOTA to make sure I had a safe place to land.

They knew it was important for me to be with people who could make sure I stayed healthy during this stressful time and help me come out of my shell. I am excited to slowly learn to build bonds with new friends and trust a new family again.

What I Can Say

Hi Noah, Noah Bird

Friends

Their are other birds in my foster home. I do mind when they are in cages but flying around startle me.

About Me and Other Moluccan Cockatoos

Moluccan Cockatoos live in large flocks in the lowland forested areas of the Indonesia Maluku Islands. Did you know, there are 21 different species of cockatoos in Indonesia? Moluccans are best known for the salmon colouring in their large crests.

We are still learning all about Noah's personality!

Cockatoos have big personalities! They can often be quite noisy but are also playful, energetic, and engaging. Their impressive crests give us insight into how they feel. Considering other body language a raised crest can indicate excitement or aggression.

Unfortunately, Moluccans are listed by the IUCN as Endangered since their wild population has decreased by more than 50% over the past three generations!

Did you know that most parrots are often rehomed 5 times during their lifetime often due to lack of education of owners, behavioural issues, and their long lifespans.

What I'm up to Now

I am being fostered

I am by fostered by one of FOTA's Board Members! She is patiently waiting for me to trust and interact at my own pace. I have already made a lot of progress coming out of my cage, stepping up when I would like and accepting scritches from everyone in the house! Once I have had some more time to decompress and make progress with my training I will be on the hunt for my forever family :)
